21st Century Girls Club

The 21st Century Girls Club is centered on problem-based learning. Fifth and sixth grade girls are presented with a problem scenario about an authentic world issue, for example recycling in the school cafeteria or how trash gets into our watershed. The girls participate in workshops for an hour and half once a month to explore the issue through hands-on learning. We promote science, technology, engineering, and math or STEM education.  But we also offer girls the opportunity to seek information and solutions in their own unique way. So in addition to STEM, we’ve included art, music, design, philanthropy, creative and critical thinking. The most important element of 21st Century Girls is empowering girls to use their ideas and abilities in a way that will help their community and ultimately the world.
