A Girl's Gift Inc.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

As the challenges that girls face continue to grow, A Girl's Gift Inc. is in a unique position to effect change. This summary outlines an intense 8 day program for girls in grade 5th-8th or ages 10-14. The program is held twice per year and addresses a number of concerning issues, including but not limited to: low self-esteem, a rising high school drop-out rate, disproportionately low access to careers in science, math, engineering and technology, negative peer pressure, low college enrollment rates, teen pregnancy and lack of exposure to positive role models. The purpose of this program for girls in grade 5th-8th or ages 10-14 is to enhance self-esteem; build confidence and leadership skills; improve study skills; increase the likelihood of success in high school, college and beyond; instill a sense of community responsibility in girls; increase interest in science, math, technology and engineering and expose young girls to positive role models. Our goal is to address these issues, while the girls are still young, in order to avoid many of the pitfalls that teenage girls and young women face.

A key component of the program is that each girl also learns to start her own business!  **Application Deadlines are announced on the website.
