Auburn University Women In Engineering Camp (rising 8-10th graders)

July 7 - 13, 2013, Do you like math and science, interested in how things work, enjoy problem solving, and like working with a team of people? If so, you might be a future engineer. Approximately 1.6 million engineers are employed in the United States today. From defense and infrastructure to telecommunications and consumer electronics, engineers make the world a better place. An engineering degree can also open doors to careers in business, law, and medicine. The options are limited by only your imagination! For the first time, we are offering a girls-only residential camp. The Women in Engineering Camp (for rising 8th thru 10th graders) will focus on issues important to women in the field of engineering. Sessions will be led by women engineering organizations, faculty members, alumni, and current Auburn engineering students. The camp will be conducted by faculty, staff, and students from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering who will ensure that students receive a broad overview of the engineering profession. Camp activities include workshops, tours, and lectures guided by engineers and engineering students who will answer questions about what courses students need to take to prepare them for success in college and a fulfilling career in engineering. Students will participate in a number of hands-on activities, tours of laboratory facilities, and design competitions. Throughout the week, participants will discover that engineering is an exciting and rewarding field. Students will experience campus-life while residing in Auburn's resident dormitories, eating at campus dining facilities, and enjoying evening social and recreational activities. Camp participants will have 24/7 supervision by experienced counselors.
