Austin Astronomical Society

Austin Astronomical Society is a charitable educational organization of enthusiasts of all ages who are dedicated to the study and enjoyment of the skies as a hobby. The organization has existed in the Austin area  for almost 50 years and has held tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) entity since 1995. AAS members come from all walks of life, educational,  and professional backgrounds. The Society welcomes members of all skill  levels, and its General Assembly meetings are open to members and the general public alike. The Society has a social media presence on Facebook that is open to all to follow news and events of interest.

Within amateur astronomy are such diverse pursuits as visual observation, astrophotography, spectrographic measurement, radio astronomy, and amateur telescope making. AAS members tend towards visual  observation and astrophotography as primary interests, and public outreach and learning the sky are the Society's primary passions.
