Explorathon

Explorathon is a half-day career event for 4th & 5th grade girls in the Calhoun (County) Intermediate School District in Michigan. Begun by the Battle Creek Branch of American Association of University Women, it's purpose was to expose children to careers based in math and science. The reasoning was that girls seem to lose interest in math and science in middle school, therefore, this project reaching them in 4th and 5th grade might assist in keeping their interest throughout their educational careers. We also invite their parents/guardians and have workshops specifically designed for them. We collaborate with CISD, the schools throughout the CISD and several foundations and service organizations who support us financially.
