IT-oLogy Charlotte

IT-oLogy is a non-profit collaboration of businesses, academic institutions and organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession. We put the "T" in STEM education and aim to change the face of information technology (IT) by introducing students to the broad range of opportunities available in IT.

Our current programs:

Cyber Saturday: Connecting middle and high school students one Saturday a month for hands-on informational activities.

CyberIQ: A workshop series to encourage middle school students to surf the cyber world safely and to educate parents on the importance of cyber safety.

Student As Professional: Connecting high school students with professionals on an IT project meeting the need of a local non-profit, while providing valuable insight about IT roles and careers.

Aspirations in Computing Award: The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high school level for their computing related achievements and interests. IT-oLogy participates by heading up local affiliates or by serving in an advisory role to existing affiliates.

Create IT discovery Day: Once a year program that provides young teens with a hands-on opportunity to learn more about IT.

Computer Camps: Enabling multi-day hands-on camps for students.

MicroCareerBursts: Developing virtual job shadow modules, which play an important role in IT career exploration for young people who may not have access to on-site job shadowing.

High School Internships and Job Shadows: Connecting high school students to business partners for experiential learning opportunities.

Speakers Bureau: Identifying members of the IT community to speak to various audiences about IT careers.

K-12 Career Fairs: Presenting the profession of IT to K-12 students through presentations and hands-on activities to grow interest in IT careers.

Field Trips: IT-oLogy hosts school groups where students experience various hands-on activities on site at IT-oLogy or partner locations.
