New Jersey School-Age Care Coalition

NJSACC is a technical assistance and professional development provider, offering statewide training to Out of School Time (OST) providers. We currently train in many content areas, including STEM. In STEM, we offer training in the National Partnership for Afterschool Science (NPASS2), and Great Science for Girls/Afterschool Science Plus from the Educational Equity Center at the Academy for Educational Development. In 2007, NJSACC entered into an agreement with the New Jersey Department of Education, and the Liberty Science Center to develop a 21 lesson science model called the 21st CASP (21st Century Afterschool Science Program) Curriculum. NJSACC was the lead agency in developing a training plan for the 21st CASP and continues to provide training and technical assistance to OST providers statewide. NJSACC has recently launched an initiative entitled "Full STEM Ahead" to raise awareness and interest as well as increasing the number of STEM opportunities available to Out of School Time (OST) students and their families. One of our primary goals is to increase the number of hands-on, inquiry based that students can participate in. We hope to minimize the fear of STEM that is felt by students and staff

by increasing the amount of professional development available to OST providers, and increasing the number of OST staff that receive these trainings.
