The Great Adventure Lab

The Great Adventure Lab offers many science enrichment classes, including  LEGO® Robotics, where kids learn to build and program machines and robots using Windows-based computers that run WeDo (LEGO® Education’s award-winning construction kit and software designed for kids ages 7 to 10). Our other science enrichment classes include LEGO Mindstorms,  Video Game Programming, Electronics, Young Engineers, Space Engineers, and Storybook Science. We know that kids learn by doing. That’s why our after school science programs offer hands-on projects for every kid, every time. Our students leave our Lego Robotics and other science classes wanting more. Many of them are so enthused they continue our experiments at home, on their own.

We want our students – boys and girls – to enter middle and high school actually wanting to sign up for that class in robotics, or physics, or electronics.

Are we succeeding? Yes! Since The Great Adventure Lab started up in fall 2010 with just nine classes taking the same lego robotics classes at three schools, we’ve expanded to more than 90 classes a week at dozens of schools. in the Washington D.C. area and Lake County, Chicago.  All told, we’ve taught more than 10,000 students to write their first programs.
