Women in Engineering Programs

Rensselaer's WIE programs are a compilation of programs focused on outreach, recruitment and retention of women in STEM fields. Two examples are:

Design Your Future Day: http://www.rpi.edu/about/inside/issue/v5n8/slideshow/focus.html An annual one-day recruitment program targeted at 11th grade high school girls. We enroll a minimum of 10 to 12 girls annually to Rensselaer who have participated in this program as high school juniors.

Women at Rensselaer Mentor Program: More than 600 undergraduate women annually participate in this peer mentor program as mentors and protégés. More than 70% of all first-year women choose to participate to allow for a smooth transition to Rensselaer from high school or another college. Monthly social activities provide community amongst Rensselaer women undergraduates and networking with professionals from industry, government and academe. Speakers for professional development workshops and seminars offer excellent role models, advice and information that prepare students for the workforce.
