Amazing STEM curriculum and training for afterschool programs serving youth in grades 5-8!

We are excited to announce our Spring 2018 Science Action Club training - BirdScouts - on Friday, March 2 at MontanaState University in Bozeman. Science Action Club is an engaging citizen science curriculum for youth grades 5-8 in afterschool settings. Science Action Club sites receive free training and a curriculum kit designed by the California Academy of Sciences. Training and support are provided by MSU Academic Technology and Outreach and the National Girls Collaborative Project.

20 Montana clubs will be selected for Spring 2018. The deadline to apply is Thursday, Feb. 8. At least one educator must be able to attend the training at MSU on Friday, March 2. (Some travel scholarships are available).

Bird Scouts explores feathers, flight and the features that make birds unique. Using tools and technology, youth identify local species and investigate environmental changes that impact bird behavior. Youth submit checklists to eBird—a citizen science project–to help scientists track bird distribution and abundance across the globe. [NOTE: This kit was formerly called Birds In Your Schoolyard]
